Briefly about Tver

Tver is a city in Russia, administrative center of Tver region. Located on the river Volga, in the place of the confluence of the Tmaka and the Tvertsa rivers. Large industrial, cultural and scientific center, an important transportation hub. City of military glory. The internal division of the city is represented by four administrative districts. The population of 404,2 ths, 92,5% Russian, 1.7% of Ukrainians, 1% - Karelians.

Based in 1135 year, from 1304 to 1327 year was the capital of Russian lands. The name Tver was given the name of a river Tvertsa, flowing into the Volga at the place of erection of the city. In 1931 was Kalinino in honor of a politician Mikhail Kalinin. In 1990 year, returned to its former name.
